The IB Diploma Programme (DP) prepares students to follow their academic path to higher education

The IB DP is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education, with final examinations, that prepares students aged 16 to 19 for success at university and in their future work life.

IB DP is designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students, with a strong and challenging academic curriculum

The DP’s focus on approaches to learning provides ideal preparation for the needed rigorous studying. The IB DP Programme aims to develop students who:

  • Have excellent range and depth of knowledge

  • Flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally, and ethically

  • Study at least two languages

  • Excel in traditional academic subjects

  • Explore and understand the nature of knowledge

Subject Groups

DP students must choose one course from each one of the six subject groups delivering deep knowledge and understanding in language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, and arts.

Additional Requirements

Students must complete three additional requirements: the Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay and at least 150 hours of Creativity, Activity and Service tasks outside of the classroom (also known as CAS).
